Big Education Update: Schools Reopen Today, January 19: New Timings, Staff Recruitment & Major Education Updates Across Pakistan

Today, January 19, schools across Pakistan have officially reopened after winter holidays, bringing important updates for parents, teachers, and students. Education departments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also announced major reforms, new recruitments, and curriculum changes, which are now coming into effect from today.

All Schools Reopen Today (January 19)
According to the Education Minister, all schools have reopened today, January 19, as per the official schedule. Parents and teachers were advised in advance to complete all necessary preparations to ensure that students return to regular academic activities without any disruption.
School Timings Being Followed from Today
School timings announced earlier are being implemented from today, in line with the pre-holiday notification:
Official School Timings
- School staff: 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Students: 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM
These timings are now actively in effect from Monday, January 19.
4,000 Non-Teaching Staff Recruitment Begins in Punjab
To address the shortage of non-teaching staff, the Punjab School Education Department has initiated the recruitment process. Data has already been collected from schools, and around 4,000 clerical, Class IV, and other non-teaching staff will be recruited. Authorities have also confirmed that additional hiring may be carried out if required.
Transfer Policy Update Implemented
The Punjab Education Department has clarified that:
- Transfers of clerical staff and Class IV employees will follow previous procedures
- Employees from Scale 1 to 16 no longer need to visit Lahore for transfer-related matters
This policy, effective from today, is expected to provide relief to thousands of education employees.
Pashto Declared Mandatory in KP Schools
According to an official notification, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has made Pashto a mandatory subject from Primary to Intermediate level in all government schools. Instructions have already been issued to schools across various districts, and implementation has started.
6,000 STEAM Labs Project Moves Forward in Punjab
In a historic development, Punjab is moving forward with the establishment of 6,000 modern STEAM laboratories in schools. These labs will promote practical learning, creativity, and modern science and technology education among students.
